Learning to Notice Again
The Kitchen window lets in a light I’ve only seen in the movies & the smoke coming out of my coffee looks so gentle I could frame it. I love the way my favorite pen glides over the paper and how the stack of books by my bed gives this lived in feel to the room.
The swing in the front always as this tender freedom to it in the morning as if sitting there invites the spirit to wash over me. My bibles old dusty paint always makes me smile and I love to look at my tea cabinet simply because the jars with bows on them bring me joy.
And suddenly when you start to notice what’s around you life doesn’t seem so dull. Instead it’s filled with reminders of joy and feelings of peace; the sky looks good even on rainy days and your kitchen becomes a soulful place.
When you learn to notice things, life no longer passes you by instead it greets you every morning by your bed side. Because how can you live without noticing you are doing so? Why would you choose to ignore what makes life beautiful?
You don’t need fancy pots or a perfect garden, you don’t need a big home or a blue painted sky, you need to start noticing wonders you already have, the ones that have been passing you by. In doing so you will find noticing requires more attention not more time.
