Journeying to Impossibility
” In stillness we learn, we think, and we dream of possibility, unafraid of the absurdity we would dare to reach for. “
For this piece I drew inspiration from the mountains and the many times I have stood still, lost in their brilliance. Something about them feels as if our biggest dreams aren’t as far as we think they are, as if they are within reach.
The spring season also played a part in my piece “The Journey to Impossibility,” signifying a season of growth, a season that in our lives rarely looks as pretty as the flowers do.

I had the idea of someone going off on a journey collecting flowers as they go, the way one would collect dreams—joyful, careful, and in awe of what could be.
Of course, on a bike ride, one would be able to stop, enjoy the different spots, collect wildflowers, laugh, and look around instead of just rushing through.
Like many of my other pieces, the process was a joyful one, spent mostly chatting with a friend while adding color and texture to the small cotton canvas in front of me.
